Friday: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Listening Session, 3 p.m.


Dana Griffin hosting diversity, equity and inclusion listening sessions

Dana Griffin, the Dean’s Fellow for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, is hosting a series of listening sessions for students, faculty and staff. The sessions are offered to allow community members to share concerns and input that will be used in forming a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion plan for the School of Education. The sessions are generally scheduled for Friday afternoons at 3 p.m. and held on Zoom. Zoom invitations are sent out to community members via email.


Information session on Aug. 27 for undergraduate programs

An information session has been scheduled for students interested in the School of Education’s undergraduate programs. The undergraduate programs session is scheduled for Aug. 27. Recruitment Director Trish Harris will offer details about the Human Development and Family Studies, K-12 Music Education, UNC-BEST, Minor in Education, and Pre-MAT programs. Faculty member Greg Cizek is cited in a Michigan Live story about homeschooling. In the story, Cizek says homeschooling can be effective for many families, but requires parents and caregivers to devote considerable time to the effort to be successful.


Alumni Kristin Small, Linwaum Fulton named principals

Kristin Small (’08 A.B.Ed., ’15 M.S.A.) has been named principal of Turner Creek Elementary School and Linwaun Fulton (’14 M.Ed.) has been named as an assistant principal of West Cary Middle School.
