Eric Houck describes how a research finding may have informed a policy prescription

Faculty member Eric Houck writes about how research conducted with doctoral student Christopher Needham may have contributed to a policy prescription aimed at improving North Carolina schools. Houck and Needham published a paper last year that examined the formula that governs school funding for students with disabilities, finding that a funding cap contained in the formula caused a funding gap for the needs of these students. A consent order issued by the judge in the Leandro court case, suggests the state should completely remove the funding cap. Read Houck’s column about the research.
