About the Curriculum Committee (CC)
Charge
Responsible for review and approval of course syllabi as well as the review (but not approval) of proposals to add, revise, or discontinue existing academic programs. The committee’s review of proposals to add, revise, or discontinue programs is advisory to FEC.
The purpose of the Curriculum Committee is to consider syllabi and program proposals in terms of shared program area needs, to identify and avoid course / content redundancies, to consider opportunities to better scaffold content within and among academic programs, to identify instructional options to help reduce spending on adjunct instructors, and to stay abreast of licensure and accreditation mandates and new research from the field.
Composition
Consisting of at least five members from among the full-time faculty with primary affiliation in the School of Education. FEC chair appoints two faculty members; and may appoint up to two ex-officio members from full-time UNC-Chapel Hill faculty members with primary affiliations outside the School of Education. The three program area chairs or their designees.
The associate dean for academic affairs, assistant dean of educator preparation and accreditation, and School of Education registrar shall serve as ex-officio members.
Term
Members shall serve a three-year term.
Meetings
Meets at least twice per semester.
