School Advisory Council (SAC)

Charge
Provides regular advice to the dean on all matters related to School of Education operations and general guidance on long-range plans and activities of the School. SAC also provides regular information and status reports to the faculty and students to assure the best possible relationships and climate among faculty, students, and administration of the School of Education.

Composition
Comprised of the dean; one faculty member of each rank, appointed by the dean in consultation with the Faculty Executive Council; one staff member of each rank (EHRA and SHRA), elected by their constituents; and leadership representatives from among the School’s undergraduate and graduate student bodies.

2019: The chair of the Faculty Executive Council, associate dean for academic affairs and director of graduate studies, and associate dean for research and faculty development were invited to become regular attendees.

August 1, 2020, the dean appointed Dean’s Fellow for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) at the UNC School of Education (SoE) to serve as an ex officio member.

Term
Student representatives serve one-year and may serve up to two consecutive terms. Faculty and staff representatives serve two-years.

Meetings
Meet at least twice a semester.
