By default, printer settings on SOE-owned computers are configured to automatically print jobs sent to SOE Xerox MFDs when the print job is sent by the user.

In circumstances where you have a document that contains sensitive or confidential information and you would like to be able to control when the printer prints the document, you should use the secure print option. This feature allows you to enter a password when you send the job to the print. This password then has to be entered at the printer before the job prints, allowing you to be present to retrieve the document.

The following machines have secure print functionality:

Using Secure Print

On your computer

  1. Select print option within the application you are printing from (Ex: File > Print). The Print Settings window will open.
  2. Select one of the printers listed above that supports secure printer.
  3. Click Print Properties. The printer properties window will open.
  4. For Job Type select Secure Print. A Secure Print settings window will open.
  5. Enter and confirm a 4-10 digit password you would like to use in the secure print process and click OK. The Secure Print window will close.
  6. Adjust any other settings needed for your print job and click OK. The Print Properties window will close.
  7. Click the option in the application you are using to send the job to the printer.

At the Copier

  1. Press the Job Status button to the left of the touchscreen display on the copier.
  2. On the touchscreen display, tap the Secure Print Jobs tab. A list of secure print jobs currently being held will appear.
  3. Select your name/username from the list. A window prompting for a password will appear.
  4. Use the keypad to the right of the touchscreen display to enter the password you established on your computer above in step #5.
  5. Press Enter on the touch screen. A listing of documents will appear.
  6. Tap the job you would like to be released to print. A pop-up will appear giving you the option to release or delete the job. Tap Release and the job will print.

On your computer

  1. Select print option within the application you are printing from (Ex: File > Print). The Print window will open.
  2. For the Printer drop down menu, select one of the printers listed above that supports secure printer.
  3. From the Copies & Pages drop down menu, select Xerox Features. The Xerox options will be displayed.
  4. For Job Type select Secure Print. A Secure Print settings window will open. (NOTE: If you happen to receive a Word warning message regarding a “banner sheet” option, click Continue).
  5. Enter and confirm a 4-10 digit password you would like to use in the secure print process and click OK. The Secure Print window will close.
  6. Adjust any other needed settings for your print job and click Print. The print job will be sent to the printer.

At the copier
