Compliance with The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Overview
Is Peabody Hall, home of the School of Education, ADA compliant?
Each floor of Peabody Hall is accessible per ADA standards.
- Issues with elevators and handicap lifts are addressed and resolved as quickly as possible by UNC Facilities Services and elevator maintenance technicians.
- When any issue occurs with either the elevator or handicap lift, appropriate authorities and student groups are notified immediately.
Building signage has been updated (2020) to ensure ADA compliance.
Corridor and hallway items have been adjusted with accommodations to ensure proper safety management.
- Beneath slanted stairwells and water fountains, equipment was installed to ensure safety.
Additional considerations:
Renovations are inspected prior to build to ensure ADA compliance, along with furniture purchases and placement to ensure compliant distance.

Are Carolina Community Academy facilities compliant with the ADA?
Carolina Community Academy, located in Roxboro, N.C., is housed in a building operated by the local school district that ensures each space is ADA-accessible.
