Below is a list of technology tools, both academic and productivity, available to students, faculty, and staff at the School of Education.

Adobe Creative Cloud

Adobe Creative Cloud is a collection of software for graphic design, video editing, web development, photography, and cloud services. All UNC students and faculty have access to Creative Cloud for free through the University. Licenses can be purchased for staff at a deeply discounted rate.

Office 365

At its core, Office 365 is the same suite of Office products and services you recognize, now provided through the cloud. Through Office 365, Microsoft offers more features in and greater access to the tools you use, both at work and at home.

OneDrive cloud storage is also part of Office 365, and is the only cloud storage solution approved to store sensitive data at the University.

Poll Everywhere

Poll Everywhere is a web-based polling system that does not require clickers. Instructors can create polls, view student responses and download reports. Polls can be added to PowerPoint presentations, displayed in a web browser, or embedded in a Sakai course site using the Lessons tool. Students can submit responses via web browser, mobile app or text message.

Sakai

Sakai is the Learning Management System (LMS) used at UNC Chapel Hill. An LMS can be defined as an application for delivering educational courses, training programs, or learning and development programs. Sakai is supported by ITS Teaching & Learning, but EdIT is happy to offer any help we can provide.

Virtual Lab

The ITS Virtual Lab provides on-demand access to a wide variety of applications for anyone with a valid ONYEN. These virtualized applications are delivered instantly to users via any computer or mobile device connected to a network at any location on or off campus. The ITS Virtual Lab is available 24/7.

Voice Thread

VoiceThread is a web-based platform used to communicate to one or more people in an interactive collaboration of images, documents, videos or presentations. Your audience can comment, ask questions or respond using either text, audio, freehand drawing or video. VoiceThread can be posted on your website or saved as an MP3 or DVD, and also has integration with Sakai.

Zoom

Zoom is an easy-to-use, mobile-friendly, video and audio conferencing service. The ability to host online meetings with up to 100 participants is available at no cost to Carolina faculty, staff, and students.
